COMPANY HISTORY

The history of our company is a significant part of both who we are and what we strive to maintain. In its nearly 50 years of existence, PPVS has risen from the basement of Arthur C. “Harry” Kemerer, the company’s founder, to become an industry leader in providing Precision sales and repair service to industrial and municipal customers throughout West Virginia, as well as portions of Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

In 1958 Precision Pump Service, Inc. was incorporated in the state of West Virginia. Literally starting out in the basement of the home of A.C. Kemerer, Precision was a part time venture, servicing small pumps for Union Carbide.

In 1959 Precision rented 2,000 square feet in the old Fletcher Enamel plant in Dunbar, West Virginia, employing 3 people.

After experiencing steady growth, Precision purchased 4.5 acres and moved to its present location in Cross Lanes, West Virginia in 1971. Starting out in a newly constructed 4,000 sq. ft. facility, it has steadily increased over the years to its now more than 25,000 sq. ft. of enclosed space.

We built our business around machine shop services and pump and valve repair, and this focus on solving the customer’s problem has remained our primary focus throughout our 40-plus year history. Early on Harry Kemerer instilled a relentless work ethic and commitment to the job that is still present. His drive for Precision performance lives on to this day through each and every employee proud to be member of the Precision family.

In 1974 we ventured into Pump Sales and acquired two product lines. Growth was steady over the next decade as Precision continuously made a name for itself through providing premier customer service solutions.

In 1987, the name was changed to Precision Pump & Valve Service, Inc.

Precision has always been a family business, both in terms of ownership but more importantly in terms of the interrelationship with its employees. Harry Kemerer’s two sons, Barry and Sam Kemerer, both grew up in the business and together with Harry led the company into the 21st century. Barry’s son, Kevin joined the company in 2001.

PPVS is a third-generation family-owned company with an extended family of over fifty employees. Through continued leadership and our employees’ unquestionable commitment to servicing the customer, Precision Pump & Valve Service is truly focused on providing a solution to all of your flow control problems.
